    Categories (500 words)
Science fiction can be broken up into a number of sub-categories. Identify and explain the various sub-categories and the features which make each distinguishable. Give examples of texts you are familiar with which may represent these sub-categories.
One of the science fiction categories is fantasy. Some of the features of a fantasy story may include places or names that are not known to this world and are often created by the author There have been many famous books and movies made about fantasy stories one of the most famous fantasy stories is Lord of The Rings. This book was first published in 1954 and later made into a a movie series.
Another category of science fiction is space travel. Some of the main features that time travel stories should be set in the future with big spaceships. The first ever space travel movie was made in 1901 this was a Sci-Fi and it was about going to the moon which only 70 years later became true. This really makes you think about what we might be doing in 70 years and how far we may have come.
Time travel was also another sub-category of sci-fi. The first book written about time travel was in 1885 but it later really caught on in the mid 1900's. Some of the features that make this type of science fiction distinguishable is that it, in almost of all the books, is set in the future and the people travel in time
Another big sub-category of science fiction is the super hero genre. Some of the main features that make this book distinguishable to the superhero genre is that the characters have amazing powers or skills, they also usually have a very distinguishable costume that they wear. There is also usually a back story as to how the superhero acquired his powers and they usually have a safe house or a base where they stay. The first ever comic that was published about a superhero was in 1939 and it was called "superman". That has later been into many movies, one being out done by the other. This comic has also led to other comics such as "BatMan" SuperWoman" and "Spiderman".
3.

Some Conventions of the science fiction or what they do to make it science fiction would be, that they have h=guns that we do not have yet such as laser guns and force fields. At this time we do not have that technology so that makes it science fiction.
